Experimental validation of a reflective long period grating design methodology

In this work, we present an experimental demonstration of our previously published modeling work on reflective long period grating (LPG). To provide the practical realization coat a segment fiber both in tail length and end facet beyond gratings with silver to invert transmission mode LPG reflection LPG. We then measure characteristics validate findings from work. further build temperature refractive index (RI) sensors demonstrate sensing 21 °C 191 similar sensitivity coefficients 54.4 ± 2.9 pm/°C 53.2 2.6 for LPG, respectively whereas same RI coefficient 370 2.2 nm/RIU.
